Education

Bringing history to life—one curious mind at a time.

School Programs

The Museum and Cultural Center at 5ive Points offers several programming options for our public, private, and homeschool communities throughout the Ocoee Region and beyond. Our educational programs are designed to address TN Social Studies academic standards. If you do not see a program that fits your needs, don’t hesitate to contact us, and we will be happy to work with you to create a program that will.

Field Trips

So much fun you hardly notice you’re learning! Through hands-on learning, students can look to the past and make our history come alive.

Our field trips combine a tour of exhibits, a trunk presentation, and a craft. Each tour allows for customization. Contact Julie Mitchell at (423) 339-5745 ext. 106 or JMitchell@museumcenter.org to create the perfect tour to pair with your curriculum. Have you recently toured our exhibits? We offer trunk only shows that include a trunk presentation and a craft.

Traveling Trunks

All the benefits of a trip to the museum brought right to your classroom. Museum Center Trunk Shows are interactive museum experiences that feature object lessons, hands-on activities, demonstrations, and more.

Trunk show themes include:

  • Revolutionary War
  • Civil War
  • World War I
  • World War II
  • The Cherokee
  • Early Home and Farm

Thank you to the DAR, American Legion, and CBKAB for their support in creating our trunks!

Homeschool Days

The Museum & Cultural Center at 5ive Points is excited to present Homeschool Days for the 2025-2026 academic year. Discover engaging, hands-on learning with new programs specially designed for homeschool students! These interactive experiences combine education and fun through themed activities, artifact engagement, STEAM connections and more.

Homeschool Days are different from field trip offerings, so individual families are encouraged to come and enjoy the fun! Participants should plan to attend the full amount of time listed for the program, unless otherwise noted. Please be aware that some programs are specific to different age groups.

Tickets must be purchased in advance (online or in-person) and are non-refundable. In the event that a participant is unable to attend, the museum may allow the non-refundable tickets to be used for a different Homeschool Days event. However, families must contact the museum prior to the event in such cases. If the exchanged tickets are not used for one of the events listed below, the non-refundable policy remains in effect. This policy helps us manage event planning and attendance more effectively, since tickets reserve space and resources that are specifically allocated for that date and time. We appreciate your help in this matter.

May 6: Trek Across Tennessee

10:00-11:30

Bring the whole family and enjoy trekking across Tennessee with our GIANT TENNESSEE MAP, courtesy of the Tennessee Geographic Alliance and the National Geographic Society. Using one of the world’s largest maps of the state (16’ X 20’), discover fun facts about our geography, history and resources through hands- and feet-on learning activities and games. And while you’re here, why not make their own Tennessee map (smaller scale, of course)? This opportunity doesn’t come along every day! Activities are primarily designed for K-8 students.
