Event Details

This hourlong program takes the whole family on an historical, geographic, and cultural journey with music of Spain and Latin America. Brass and percussion musicians share how music, like language and culture, travels across borders. Setting sail from Spain, prepare to be led to the other side of the ocean by way of musical selections from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.

This fun and interactive program will showcase the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astor Piazzolla, and Tito Puente, among others. Children of all ages will discover how folk music influences culture over time, become more familiar with the geography of several Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries, and recognize four major brass instruments, plus a number of instruments unique to this music, including claves, guiro, and timbales.

FREE Family Concert, but donations are appreciated.
