In partnership with PPPP Proudly Presents and The Undertakers: Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a night of Music Under the Stars in the museum courtyard! Kicking off the season on Friday, September 20th, is the North Carolina-based ‘Latingrass’ duo Larry and Joe. Also known as Larry Bellorín and Joe Troop, both men are versatile multi-instrumentalists and singer-songwriters on a mission to show that music has no borders. As a duo they perform a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music, a distinct blend of their musical inheritances and traditions as well as storytelling about the ways that music and social movements unite.
Opening the evening will be Tyson Leamon, who has become a household name in the Tennessee Valley where he grew up writing and performing great music. His soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics take listeners back to the simplicity of great American values.
Make your evening immersive with a Venezuelan Appalachian fusion meal before the concert for just $20. Venezuela’s nation dish Pabellon Criollo will be served with a slight Appalachian twist. Pabellon Criollo consists of Venezuelan shredded beef, Appalachian soup beans, white rice, fried plantains, and jalapeno cheddar corn spoonbread with hot honey. For desseert we will be serving Quesillo (Venezuelan flan).
Thank you to our AMAZING community sponsors, Haskell Interiors and The Tennessee Arts Commission, for making this evening possible.
*No outside food or beverage allowed. Concessions will be available for purchase.
