Beginning of the End: The Chattanooga Trail of Jimmy Hoffa
Maury Nicely, author of Hoffa in Tennessee, discusses the 1964 trial of notorious Teamster president Jimmy Hoffa, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for jury tampering. The trial would set into motion events that would ultimately result in Hoffa’s disappearance a decade later, in 1975. The trial was beset with allegations of government surveillance, wiretapping, juror misconduct, fabricated testimony, Cuban gunrunning, threats of assassination, and even the procurement of prostitutes for jurors by the federal government.
